John Supports Legal Sports Betting in Ohio

COLUMBUS – State Representative Marilyn John (R-Richland County) applauds Governor DeWine for signing House Bill 29 into law, which will enact legal sports betting in Ohio. 

“This legislation legalizes and regulates sports betting in Ohio, and it helps provide funding for our education system and veterans while also creating jobs,” added John. 

Bars throughout Ohio will have the opportunity to participate in sports betting with the C license available to them. This will allow bars and restaurants to receive benefits from the legal sports wagering occurring in our state after the bill goes into effect. 

“It is extremely important to offer local employers an opportunity to benefit from this legislation, and I am happy to have supported this bill,” said John. 

House Bill 29 will make sports betting available on mobile applications, in person sports books, and lottery terminals. With the Governor’s signature today, the bill goes into effect in 90 days.
