COLUMBUS, Ohio (WKEF) - House Bill 395 is headed for the Ohio House for a vote after a unanimous vote from the House Transportation and Public Safety Committee. The bill will rename a section of I-75 to the MCEI Kimra Skelton Memorial Highway.
Skelton was killed in 2019 the day before Thanksgiving while on duty an OSHP motor carrier enforcement inspector. Her vehicle was struck and she was killed at around 6:45 a.m. on I-75 near Troy. State Rep. Jena Powell provided sponsor testimony in support of the bill, "Kimra was a 49 year old mother of two, and, like me a resident of Arcanum, Ohio. I'm thankful for Kimra's service, and I'm proud to honor such a brave Ohioan with this bill."
