Rep. Forhan Condemns Elon Musk for Mishandling Child Abuse Social Media Post

COLUMBUS – State Rep. Elliot Forhan (D-South Euclid) today condemned X, formerly known as Twitter, and Elon Musk’s handling of a right-wing influencer who posted an image of a toddler being tortured.

“X has failed under the leadership of Elon Musk to adequately detect, remove, and prevent child sex abuse imagery from appearing on its platform. I am deeply disheartened to see X prioritize profits and right-wing conspiracy theorists over protecting and keeping our children safe,” said Rep. Forhan.

Following Elon Musk’s cut to trust and safety staffing, some videos of child exploitation have remained on the platform for weeks after being reported. Recently, Elon Musk has reinstated QAnon accounts which spread baseless conspiracy theories, including that Democrats and other high-level government officials are child predators. Furthering Musk’s lack of moderation, some prominent far-right accounts on X have received direct payouts, neo-Nazis have been un-suspended, and Musk critics have been suspended.
