Rep. Forhan Celebrates Passage of Issues 1 and 2, Says They Are Victories for Freedom in Ohio
COLUMBUS – State Rep. Elliot Forhan (D-South Euclid) today released the following statement regarding the passage by Ohio voters of Issues 1 and 2:
“Ohio voters made themselves heard yesterday,” said Rep. Forhan. “In spite of efforts by Ohio Secretary of State Frank LaRose and the Republican supermajority in the Ohio legislature to mislead the public, Ohioans knew the truth. That truth is that (1) a woman should have the freedom to make her own healthcare decisions without government interference and (2) the War on Drugs is a failure and should end now. I stand with Ohio voters who approved Issues 1 and 2.”
The passage of Issue 1 enshrines in Ohio’s constitution reproductive freedom and guarantees the right to make and carry out one’s own reproductive decisions, including decisions on abortion, contraception, fertility treatment, continuing one’s own pregnancy and miscarriage care.
Issue 2’s victory legalizes and regulates the cultivation, manufacturing, testing and sale of cannabis and cannabis products to adults ages 21 and older and legalizes home-grown production for adults ages 21 and older with a limit of six plants per person and 12 plants per residence.
