Rep. Forhan Blasts Ballot Board's Failure to Adopt Fair, Accurate Language for Reproductive Freedom Ballot Initiative

COLUMBUS – State Rep. Elliot Forhan (D-South Euclid) today issued the following statement regarding today’s failure by the Ohio Ballot Board to approve clear, accurate and fair language concerning the reproductive freedom ballot initiative on the November ballot: 

“Ohioans were flat out lied to today with the language approved by the Ballot Board for the reproductive rights constitutional amendment,” said Rep. Forhan. “Extremists led by Frank LaRose ignored medical experts and legal experts by approving ballot language that is blatantly misleading and purposefully inaccurate solely for their own personal and political gain. Ohioans are proud people who know when they’re being lied to and will show LaRose, again, that when politicians put themselves first over the people, voters will prove them wrong.”

The reproductive freedoms constitutional amendment titled “Issue 1” would ensure  Ohioans have the right to make and carry out one’s own reproductive healthcare decisions, including but not limited to decisions on contraception, fertility treatment, continuing one’s own pregnancy, miscarriage care and abortion.
