Merrin Introduces Capital Reappropriations Bill
State Rep. Derek Merrin (R-Monclova) today introduced a fiscally-responsible capital reappropriations bill.
House Bill 670 will allow funding for previously approved construction projects focused on health, safety and jobs to continue uninterrupted into the new fiscal year.
Merrin said state government needs to prioritize spending, just as Ohio families are doing.
“We need to invest in our future, but do so in a fiscally responsible way,” Merrin said. “That’s our goal with this plan.”
Speaker Larry Householder (R-Glenford) agreed, saying this measure is a prudent approach given what we know today about the state’s financial situation.
“These are uncertain financial times for Ohio,” said Householder. “The state is facing a multi-billion dollar budget shortfall. With all of the unknowns we face, I believe this is a responsible path forward.”
