Merrin Announces Approval of Local School and Hospital Aid
State Rep. Derek Merrin (R-Monclova) announces that the State Controlling Board recently approved coronavirus relief funding to support local schools preparing for the beginning of the upcoming school year.
“We need to ensure that our local schools and the education of our children can move forward for this academic year,” said Merrin. “The release of this school funding aid will surely provide more certainty and assistance to the school districts across Lucas and Fulton Counties.”
According to the Ohio Office of Budget and Management (OBM), the federal coronavirus relief aid can be used for a variety of needs, including protective equipment, cleaning and sanitation, and remote learning.
The school funding approved is being distributed based on enrollment. Additionally, there is funding to support students with disabilities and economically disadvantaged students, as well as transportation obligations.
Here are the school district allocations approved by the Controlling Board within the 47th Ohio House District:
- Anthony Wayne Local - $205,291
- Ottawa Hills Local - $35,601
- Sylvania Schools - $388,956
- Archbold-Area Local - $53,165
- Evergreen Local - $76,806
- Fayette Local - $23,838
- Pettisville Local - $24,462
- Swanton Local - $65,581
- Wauseon Exempted Village - $86,486
Additionally, the Controlling Board approved a measure to fund rural hospitals. Within the region, the Fulton County Health Center is set to receive $471,930.
