COLUMBUS— As many Ohioans will be called back to work in May, many will be faced with impossible decisions related to work, health and family as this ongoing pandemic continues: how to return to work when you have children at home and no one to care for them with daycares and schools closed; how to keep those high-risk individuals who will remain quarantined safe when workers return home; and what protections exist for workers in and out of the workplace or who do fall ill with COVID-19.

COLUMBUS — State Rep. Casey Weinstein (D-Hudson) issued the following statement in response to the passage of the federal Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act on March 27, which will expand unemployment benefits to independent contractors during the current COVID-19 crisis:

COLUMBUS— State lawmakers returned to the Statehouse today to address the COVID-19 crisis and provide immediate relief to everyday Ohioans. State Rep. Casey Weinstein (D-Hudson) released a statement today following the unanimous passage of an omnibus bill (HB 197) that would prohibit utility shut-offs, waive state testing requirements, freeze EdChoice eligibility, extend voting in the primary election, postpone the state income tax filing deadline among several other measures.

COLUMBUS—State Rep. Casey Weinstein (D-Hudson) today joined Democratic colleagues to outline several key priorities as lawmakers return to the Statehouse this week to take up emergency measures to address the public health and economic crises facing the state amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

COLUMBUS – State Reps. Joe Miller (D-Amherst) and Casey Weinstein (D-Hudson) today announced the introduction of House Bill (HB) 546, legislation to change the definitions and reduce punitive fees on hybrid and electric vehicles (EV). Currently, owners of plug-in EVs are subject to an annual $200 fee while owners of hybrid EVs are subject to an annual $100 fee. This new legislation would see owners pay an annual $100 and $50 fee, respectively.

COLUMBUS – State Representative Casey Weinstein (D-Hudson) is calling for an increase in state security funding for non-profits after more than 50 Jewish Community Centers, including the Jewish Community Centers of Akron and Youngstown, received bomb threats over the weekend.

COLUMBUS – State Representative Casey Weinstein (D-Hudson) today announced that his bipartisan bill with State Rep. Rick Perales (R-Beavercreek) was signed into law by Governor Mike DeWine at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base. The legislation, which will grant licensing reciprocity for active duty military families, started in the legislature as House Bill (HB) 133 before being consolidated with Senate Bill (SB) 7 at the end of 2019.
