Weinstein Statement on Missing Budget Deadline

State Representative Casey Weinstein (D-Hudson) today decried the process resulting in the Ohio legislature missing their constitutionally-mandated deadline to pass the biennial budget.

“With one party rule here in Ohio, there should have been a budget passed by now. Instead, weeks of our time were wasted on House Bill 6, which bails out an Indiana coal plant,” said Weinstein. “Had we not, I am sure the budget would have been passed in a timely manner that meets our constitutional responsibility. My promise is to work for you, check my ego at the door, and come together to deliver results.”

The House voted Sunday evening on a temporary funding measure to keep the government open through the middle of July.
