Republicans Power Grab a Continued Assault on People's Right to Hold Government Accountable

COLUMBUS - State Rep. Casey Weinstein (D-Hudson) today released the following statement following the passage of the undemocratic House Bill 1 through the Ohio House of Representatives: 

“Let me be clear, the passage of HB 1 today was not about banning foreign money in our election contributions, as this is already illegal under federal law. Rather, it was another attempt by extremists to weaken our citizen-led ballot initiative system, this time by weaponizing the attorney general’s office against citizen groups.” said Rep. Weinstein. “The gerrymandered supermajority’s threat of losing their power is leading them to try to take the people’s rights away once more, and I cannot and will not support that.”
