Rep. Weinstein Celebrates Passage of Issues 1 and 2, Says Victories Give Ohioans Freedom to Make Own Personal Decisions

COLUMBUS – State Rep. Casey Weinstein (D-Hudson) today released the following statement concerning Issue 1 and Issue 2’s resounding passage by Ohio’s voters:

“Yesterday, Ohioans spoke loud and clear. We value privacy. We value freedom. We value liberty. The leaders in the legislature should heed the call and uphold the will of the voters,” said Rep. Weinstein.

Issue 1’s victory now enshrines abortion rights into Ohio’s constitution and guarantees every individual a right to make and carry out one’s own reproductive decisions, including but not limited to decisions on, contraception, fertility treatment, continuing one’s own pregnancy, and miscarriage care.

Issue 2’s victory will legalize and regulate the cultivation, manufacturing, testing, and sale of marijuana and marijuana products to adults ages 21 and up, and legalize home grow for adults ages 21 and up with a limit of six plants per person and 12 plants per residence.
