Rep. Weinstein announces $1.375 million in capital funds coming to House District 37

$2.1 billion Capital Budget will advance to the House floor for an expected vote Thursday

COLUMBUS – State Representative Casey Weinstein (D-Hudson) today announced the introduction of the $2.1 billion capital appropriations budget for fiscal years 2021-2022 as an amendment during the Senate Bill (SB) 310 conference committee. The capital appropriations budget includes $186.5 million for community projects, a number of which that will benefit House District 37 including:

  • $250,000 in funds for Heights to Hudson Trail
  • $150,000 in funds for Baldwin-Buss House Restoration
  • $75,000 in funds for Case-Barlow Farm Barn Improvements
  • $900,000 in funds for Blossom Music Center Improvements

“These projects not only provide much needed economic stimulus for House District 37, they all provide expanded opportunities for learning and leisure for constituents and ­­non-constituents alike,” said Rep. Weinstein. “I hope Ohioans from across the region will come and enjoy these great, renovated attractions once they can safely do so.”

Other major projects benefitting the entirety of Summit County include:

  • $500,000 in funds for the Akron Zoo
  • $225,000 in funds for Akron Children’s Hospital
  • $100,000 in funds for Schultz Campus for Jewish Life Enhancements
  • $100,000 in funds for Summit Metro Parks
  • $150,000 in funds for Akron Art Museum
  • $100,000 in funds for Girl Scout STEM Center of Excellence
  • $400,000 in funds for Summit County Battered Women’s Shelter
  • $100,000 in funds for United Way of Summit County Renovations
  • $700,000 in funds for Cleveland Clinic Akron General

The capital budget and SB 310 are anticipated to advance to the House floor for a vote on the conference committee report on Thursday.
