Hillyer Announces Trail Construction in New Philadelphia

COLUMBUS – State Representative Brett Hillyer (R-Uhrichsville) announced today that the Clean Ohio Trail Fund will commit $500,000 to build a 1.6-mile trail connecting Kent State University on the southern side of New Philadelphia with the downtown area.

The purpose of the Clean Ohio Trail Fund is to allocate state dollars to communities to be used for improving outdoor recreation, specifically recreational trails.

“Our trails in Tuscarawas county are a point of pride for those who live in the community and it is a joy to see state funding coming back to the county for the purpose of improving those trails,” said Hillyer.

This grant program allows for parks throughout Ohio to receive state funding leaving them better maintained, more accessible, and oftentimes expanded.
