Rep. Dean Congratulates the City of Xenia for Earning Safety Capital Grant
State Representative Bill Dean (R-Xenia) today congratulated the City of Xenia for being named a recipient of the Local Government Safety Capital Grant funds.
Initiated by the Ohio House of Representatives and included in the state operating budget for fiscal years 2016 and 2017, these grants can be used to help fund public safety projects in local communities throughout Ohio.
Local governments could apply for the grants for eligible projects, but the funding must be used for purchasing vehicles, equipment, facilities and/or systems utilized by police, fire, and/or EMS providers to enhance public safety.
“I am pleased to congratulate the City of Xenia on receiving the Local Government Safety Capital Grant,” said Rep. dean. “These funds will contribute to the efficiency of our local law enforcement and help promote safety in our community.”
The grant will replace existing police cruisers for the City of Xenia. Currently, the city only has 10 vehicles, but in order to sustain their fleet they will use the grant money to purchase two more vehicles.
The Local Government Innovation Council administers the program.
