State Rep. Al Cutrona (R-Canfield) announces the State Controlling Board approved infrastructure funding for the Bailey Road Outpost in Mahoning County on Monday. The funding is provided from the transportation budget legislation passed by the General Assembly earlier this year.

“In acting in an important role that oversaw the legislative process for the transportation budget, I’m proud to have represented the Valley to secure funds that will provide important maintenance and infrastructure of the Bailey Outpost right here in Mahoning County,” Cutrona said.

The representative sits on both the House Finance and Finance Subcommittee on Transportation, which both committees had multiple hearings for the transportation budget. Cutrona also supported the legislation for a vote on the House floor that went on to be signed into law.

The funding request was approved at the meeting for the dollars to be used through the Ohio Department of Transportation.

Cutrona noted another measure was approved for equipment supporting the Sex Offender Registration and Notification registry for local sheriff’s offices. The representative has been a strong advocate for protecting the vulnerable against sex offenders with legislation he introduced last year. Additionally, a measure was approved for the Department of Health to work with the American Academy of Pediatrics to provide lead testing training to pediatricians statewide.

The next scheduled State Controlling Board meeting is on Sept. 18.
