COLUMBUS—State Rep. Thomas Hall (R- Madison Twp.) is pleased to announce that House Bill 303, legislation to establish a process by which a person may request to add new training or continuing education topics for EMS personnel, was signed by Ohio Governor Mike DeWine.

Under the bill, a person will be able to submit a request to the State Board of Emergency Medical, Fire, and Transportation Services to add a new topic to EMS personnel training. The Board will be granted the authority to decide which topics to approve and to adopt rules regarding the required number of hours for each approved topic.

“I am grateful to my colleagues and Governor DeWine for helping get this legislation across the finish line,” said Hall. “An EMS personnel’s training and experience are the determining factors between saving someone’s life.”

The legislation as signed also includes an amendment that will reinstate unintentionally overwritten provisions regarding Ohio’s Medication Aides Program.
