One of the most interesting things about the state budget is that it includes such a vast array of subject matter, it truly allows you to fit many different pieces of a puzzle together and achieve overall reform in how our state operates. The members of the House began that process two years ago, when we pulled Ohio out of its $8 billion structural deficit and made various changes to get Ohio’s economy moving, including the elimination of the death tax.

The Ohio House of Representatives today voted to pass Amended Substitute House Bill 59, the state operating budget designed to improve Ohio’s business climate, invest in schools, help Ohioans access the care and services they need, give Ohioans greater ability to obtain higher education, and put more money back in the pockets of hardworking Ohioans.

With unanimous support, the Ohio House of Representatives today passed Amended House Bill 57 to require proof that a humane society agent has successfully completed training to be filed with the county recorder. The legislation strives to protect Ohio’s companion animals and more effectively address cases of animal cruelty and abuse.
