State Representatives Nathan Manning (R-North Ridgeville) and Nan Baker (R-Westlake) today applauded the Ohio Senate’s passage of House Bill 300, legislation that would strengthen the penalties on drivers who are convicted of OVI-related aggravated vehicular homicide. House Bill 300, sponsored by Reps. Manning and Baker, passed out of the Ohio House last year.

This September, the state of Ohio launched Safe at Home, an address confidentiality program that allows a person to shield their residential address from public records. The program, administered by the Secretary of State’s office, is an effort to protect victims of domestic violence, stalking, human trafficking, rape, or sexual battery from being located by his or her aggressor. This issue arose after many in the legislature heard stories from victims who were tracked by an abuser after their address was found through an online search.

Speaker of the Ohio House Clifford A. Rosenberger (R-Clarksville) today announced that State Representative Derek Merrin (R-Monclova Township) has been appointed to serve on three Ohio House committees including Health and Aging, Insurance, and Ways and Means. Each committee hears bills on a variety of issues relevant to its particular focus.

Speaker of the Ohio House Clifford A. Rosenberger (R-Clarksville) today announced that State Representative Jeff McClain (R-Upper Sandusky) will be resigning from his seat in the Ohio House to take a position as Director of Tax and Economic Policy for the Ohio Chamber of Commerce.
