State Rep. Monique Smith (D-Fairview Park) today applauded the Ohio House passage of House Bill (HB) 2, a long-held Democratic priority that would create the Ohio Residential Broadband Expansion Program, specifically designed to bring broadband access to unserved residential households in both rural and urban areas of the state.
“I am proud to be a cosponsor of HB2 and join the many House members who came together to pass this legislation. This legislation will provide ways to bring broadband access to hundreds of thousands of underserved Ohioans who do not have access today,” said Rep. Smith. “We know that in 2021, internet access is not a luxury, it is a necessity. Thanks to this bipartisan effort, many more Ohioans will have the internet access they desperately need.”
HB 2 now moves to the Ohio Senate for further consideration.
