COLUMBUS – State Rep. Michele Lepore-Hagan (D-Youngstown) today issued a statement in honor of “Ohio Military Family Month,” which recognizes the unique sacrifices of Ohio’s military families.
“We owe a debt of gratitude to our service members and their families. I am thankful for their sacrifices, and all of those who serve from Ohio’s 58th district,” said Rep. Lepore-Hagan.
Since the beginning of the 133rd General Assembly, House Democrats have passed a number of bills to support military families, including:
- House Bill (HB) 133 (Weinstein): To grant licensing reciprocity for active duty military families. HB 133 was consolidated into Senate Bill (SB) 7, and was subsequently signed into law in Jan. 2020.
- HB 18 (Crawley): To exempt veteran’s disability severance payments from the state income tax. HB 18 was signed into law in Feb. 2020.
- HB 287 (Russo): To allow reciprocity for Medicaid home and community-based service waivers for the family members of active-duty military when families move to Ohio for military assignment. HB 287 was signed into law in June 2020.
