Rep. Lepore-Hagan announces House passage of over $2 billion capital reappropriations bill

HB 597 reappropriates $4.17 million for capital projects in Mahoning County

COLUMBUS– State Rep. Michele Lepore-Hagan (D-Youngstown) today announced the Ohio House passage of House Bill (HB) 597, which reappropriates over $2 billion in capital funds for the FY 2023-24 biennium. 

“I will always fight to bring dollars back for the beautiful, award winning, and phenomenal places in our community. From education, to workforce training, to the arts, this is what the hard working people of the Mahoning Valley deserve,” Rep. Lepore-Hagan.

HB 597 includes a provision that reappropriates $4,170,000 to Mahoning County for various projects: 

·   $500,000 in funds for the Forest Lawn Flood Plain Restoration and Wildlife Trail

·   $175,000 in funds for McKelvey Lake Park

·  $100,000 in funds for the Poland Municipal Forest Restoration

· $275,000 in funds for Butler Institute of American Art

·$350,000 and $1,000,000 in funds for Stambaugh Auditorium

·  $100,000 in funds for the Mahoning Valley Health Care Center

· $100,000 in funds for Seek Inc.

·$300,000 in funds for Campbell Community Literacy Workforce and Cultural Center

· $70,000 in funds for the Mahoning Valley Innovation and Commercial Center

· $250,000 in funds for Western Reserve Port Authority

· $400,000 in funds for Global Investment Hub

· $500,000 in funds for Akron Children’s Beehly Hospital

·  $50,000 in funds for Brite Energy Labs Expansion

HB 597 was passed unanimously in the House and now heads to the Senate for further consideration.
