COLUMBUS—State Rep. Mary Lightbody (D-Westerville) today called for the resignation of Republican Speaker of the House Larry Householder (R-Glenford) following federal charges that he engaged in a $60 million bribery, racketeering scheme. This is the second FBI investigation into House GOP leadership in three years.

“I was shocked to learn yesterday that we have another F.B.I. investigation into another Ohio House Speaker.  I am very sad that allegations against Mr. Householder and the others point to a culture of corruption amongst the GOP leadership.  Corruption has no place in our government, regardless of political party, and only serves to cast mistrust that tarnishes us all,” said Rep. Lightbody. "When corruption is revealed, those involved need to be held accountable. Mr. Householder needs to resign immediately so we can move ahead with new leadership. During this unprecedented public health crisis, Ohioans deserve better, and we cannot let these actions distract us from the important work that needs to be done.”
