COLUMBUS – State Representative Mark Fraizer (R-Newark) enthusiastically announced today that Governor Mike DeWine has signed into law Substitute House Bill 120, the Compassionate Caregivers Act, legislation that will ensure compassionate care access in long-term care facilities.
The bill will require long-term care facilities to develop and implement a visitation policy securing compassionate care visitations in long-term care facilities during any future epidemic, pandemic, or state of emergency.
“Substitute House Bill 120 was drafted in response to concerns from residents in my district who could not access their loved ones in nursing homes due to COVID-19 restrictions.” said Fraizer. “This legislation ensures necessary compassionate care access for our most vulnerable population, so that the isolation experienced during COVID-19 will never happen again.”
Substitute House Bill 120 will go into effect in 90 days.
