COLUMBUS – State Reps. Lisa Sobecki (D-Toledo) and Michael Sheehy (D-Oregon) today unveiled the “Officer Anthony Dia Memorial Highway” sign during an event held outside the Home Depot where Officer Dia was killed in the line of duty July 4, 2020. They were joined by Toledo Mayor Wade Kapszukiewicz, Toledo Chief of Police George Kral, Jayme Dia, and officers of the Toledo Police Department. Rep. Sobecki and Rep. Sheehy’s bill establishing the memorial highway was signed into law by the governor earlier this year.

“The Officer Dia Memorial Highway honors the lasting legacy of this young man, this public servant who made the ultimate sacrifice,” said Rep. Sobecki. “It was an honor to sponsor the legislation to create the memorial highway and work with ODOT and the City to ensure that Officer Dia’s courageous service will be remembered for generations to come.”

“Officer Dia’s commitment to his oath to protect and serve his community and the people of Toledo should never be forgotten,” said Rep. Sheehy. “This designation of State Route 184 in his honor will help keep his memory alive, and remind people of the bravery and courage he exhibited as a member of the Toledo Police Department.”
