Lisa Sobecki is a long time public servant. She first served in the U.S. Navy as the first female fire safety instructor as an enlisted sailor. Lisa later served as school board member for Toledo Public Schools for eight years. During her time on school board, Lisa served as the board president and oversaw the construction of 44 new schools and renovation of 2 100-year old high schools – during the Great Recession. Lisa was first elected to the Ohio House in 2018, and is in her second term as State Representative.
During her time at the Statehouse, Lisa has served on a variety of committees including the Primary and Secondary, Economic and Workforce Development – Ranking, Ways and Means, State and Local Government, Joint Education Oversight Committee, Ohio Facilities Construction Commission, the State Report Card Study Committee.
Lisa strives to be champion of the middle and working class, public education, and women’s rights. In the 133rd GA, Lisa also served as the Vice Chair of the Ohio Democratic Women’s Legislative Caucus. She was elected to serve as the Chair for the Ohio Democratic Women’s Legislative Caucus for the 134th GA.
Before running for the Ohio House, Lisa worked as an economic support specialist for the Lucas County Job and Family Services. She was active within her union, AFSCME Local 544-01, and served as the chapter’s chair. Lisa currently lives in Point Place. She is married, has two sons, one granddaughter, and one daughter-in-law.
