State Reps. Brigid Kelly (D-Cincinnati), Catherine Ingram (D-Cincinnati), Sedrick Denson (D-Cincinnati), and Jessica Miranda (D-Forest Park) today issued the following statements in response to House Bill (HB) 680, the Ohio House Republican Caucus general election plan:

COLUMBUS— Rep. Jessica E. Miranda (D-Cincinnati) today signed onto a House resolution that would designate racism as a public health crisis, echoing similar calls in Cleveland and Franklin County. The resolution, if passed, would be the first of its kind passed at the state level.

COLUMBUS—State Rep. Jessica E. Miranda (D-Forest Park) joined House Democrats to release their proposal for holding a safe and accessible presidential election this November amid the worst global pandemic in more than a century. Highlights of the plan include mailing a ballot with prepaid return postage to every voter, extending the ballot postmark date to Election Day, enhancing safety for in-person voting and expanding voter registration.

Miranda (D-Forest Park) announced the state Controlling Board yesterday approved more than $132 million in funding to bolster unemployment benefits, provide assistance for small businesses and manufacturers, and support state and local COVID-19 response efforts amid the worst global pandemic in more than a century.

COLUMBUS— State Reps. Jessica E. Miranda (D-Forest Park) and Brigid Kelly (D-Cincinnati) today emphasized the need to address safe gun storage during the COVID-19 pandemic, as unsecured guns pose a significant risk to children spending more time indoors due to the stay-at-home order.

COLUMBUS— State Rep. Jessica E. Miranda (D-Forest Park) today announced the state Controlling Board approved more than $248 million in federal coronavirus relief funds to aid the state’s ongoing pandemic response efforts, including funds to bolster testing capacity, purchase needed personal protective equipment for frontline workers, expand hospital capacity, and provide resources for those most impacted by the coronavirus.

COLUMBUS— State Rep. Jessica E. Miranda (D-Forest Park) today announced Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) grants will be made available to cover certain local pandemic response costs in Ohio. Funds will go to state and local authorities as well as non-profits, such as hospitals, working at the direction of local governments.

COLUMBUS— State Rep. Jessica E. Miranda (D-Forest Park) today was named to a bipartisan work group, OHIO 2020, to aid in the state’s economic recovery from the coronavirus pandemic. House Democrats formed similar work groups in recent weeks, releasing short and long-term priorities to benefit those hit hardest by the pandemic. Rep. Miranda released the following statement:

Miranda (D-Forest Park) released a statement today following the unanimous passage of an omnibus bill (HB 197) that would prohibit utility shut-offs, waive state testing requirements, freeze EdChoice eligibility, extend voting in the primary election, postpone the state income tax filing deadline among several other measures.
