State Rep. Jessica E. Miranda (D-Forest Park) today released a letter announcing her support of organized labor unions in Ohio while urging the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) to reject the proposed rule to create a federal Industry-Recognized Apprenticeship Program (IRAP), which seeks to strip current union wage progression rules and ratio requirements.

“I am proud to stand with my labor allies and call on the Department of Labor to stop IRAPs,” said Miranda. “We should do everything in our power to help support the rigorous apprenticeship qualifications established by organized labor, not actively work to create dangerous shortcuts.”

Miranda (D-Forest Park) held a community town hall last Thursday as part of the Ohio Promise Town Hall Tour, a statewide legislative town hall series hosted by House Democratic members. The purpose of the tour is to hear from constituents in their districts about their most pressing concerns, answer questions, and discuss the state budget, bipartisan priorities and a number of recent Democratic-led, legislative wins for working people and families.
