State Rep. Jessica E. Miranda (D-Forest Park) today announced the start of the open enrollment period for healthcare coverage through the Affordable Care Act (ACA). The open enrollment period will run from Nov. 1 to Jan. 15, 2022, with coverage beginning Jan. 1, 2022. 

COLUMBUS – State Rep. Jessica E. Miranda (D-Forest Park), co-founder of the Ohio Gun Violence Prevention Caucus, responded to this week’s news of an accidental fatal shooting of a one year old child in Canton. Initial reports indicate that the one year old child was fatally shot by a three year old child in the household who found an unsecured gun.

Rep. Jessica E. Miranda (D-Forest Park) Tuesday gave sponsor testimony in support of House Bill (H.B.) 361 in front of the Ohio House Transportation and Public Safety Committee. In response to various concerns from constituents, H.B. 361 would increase penalties on railroad companies that unlawfully block intersections.

Rep. Jessica E. Miranda (D-Forest Park) announced today that the state Controlling Board approved several items of note this week, including the allocation of $202 million from the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021 (ARPA) for the Home Energy Assistance Weatherization Program, which helps Ohioans pay their energy bills if they are at or below 175% of the federal poverty line.

Rep. Jessica E. Miranda (D-Forest Park) announced today that the Ohio Tax Credit Authority (TCA) approved several economic development proposals, including an expansion project by Coterie Applications Inc. in Blue Ash. The company’s expansion is expected to create 10 new jobs and generate  $750,000 in new annual payroll. 

COLUMBUS – State Rep. Jessica E. Miranda (D-Forest Park) issued a statement today recognizing Latina Women’s Equal Pay Day, the day when Latina women’s pay catches up to that of non-Hispanic, white men from the previous year. Latina women earn on average just 57 cents for every $1 a white man makes. 

House Democratic lawmakers from around the state, including Assistant Minority Leader Rep. Kristin Boggs (D-Columbus), Minority Whip Rep. Paula Hicks-Hudson (D-Toledo), Ohio Legislative Black Caucus President Rep. Thomas West (D-Canton), and Rep. Jessica Miranda (D-Forest Park), today called on Republican members of the Ohio Redistricting Commission to release draft congressional districts so the Commission can begin working to reach an agreement on a bipartisan 10-year map.

Rep. Jessica E. Miranda (D-Forest Park) announced today that the state Controlling Board approved several items of note this week, including the allocation of $161.5 million to enhance early childhood education. The funds will help support child care providers navigate the COVID-19 pandemic, recruit employees, and increase access for education. Additionally, $100 million from the federal government were allocated for schools and local districts seeking to maintain vital educational services during the COVID-19 pandemic.

State Rep. Jessica E. Miranda (D-Forest Park) today announced that Heritage Hill Elementary, Stewart Elementary and Woodlawn Elementary Schools, each in the Princeton City School district, are recipients of the Class of 2021 Purple Star Award from the Ohio Department of Education. The award recognizes the schools’ dedication to supporting their students from military families.
