COLUMBUS – State Rep. Jessica E. Miranda (D-Forest Park) today applauds the Columbus judge’s ruling that gives local governments the freedom to address gun violence.

“Ohioans all across the state overwhelmingly support restrictions on guns,” said Rep. Miranda. “This ruling now opens the door for local governments to draft meaningful laws that will keep weapons of destruction, like assault rifles, off our streets and keep our children and our communities safe. HB 274 would further propel this fight forward by repealing the ban on local governments from passing any gun laws.”

Rep. Miranda, the co-founder of the Gun Prevention Caucus, is jointly sponsoring two bills that bring awareness to gun violence. HB 262 incentivizes safe gun storage in a household with minors present and HB 360 would designate June as Gun Violence Awareness Month.
