CINCINNATI – Rep. Jessica E. Miranda (D-Forest Park) released the following the statement after Thursday’s attack on the Cincinnati FBI office by an armed individual:
“Unwarranted verbal attacks on law enforcement and the FBI and dangerous, threatening talk by public officials cannot be separated from today’s real life violent attack on a Sycamore Township FBI office,” said Rep. Miranda. “Today’s incident by a gunman in body armor put residents of House District 28 at risk just a few miles from my home. This is the strongest reminder that violent rhetoric by public officials can incite violent acts in the real world. We saw it on January 6th and we don’t want to see it happen again. No one is above the law. One of the core promises of this country is that we are equal in the eyes of the law. But a handful of reckless Republicans appear to be trying to incite violence. Everyone in a position of power has a responsibility to dial down dangerous rhetoric before more people are hurt or killed.
“If you are aware of any threats or plans for violence, please report them to the FBI. We are in this together. Let’s keep our communities safe. I extend my gratitude to the FBI agents and State Highway Patrol Officers who put their lives on the line in the pursuit of safety and justice.”
