Rep. Miranda celebrates passage of bill designating the Kaia L. Grant Memorial Highway

Legislation honors Springdale Officer who died during a police chase in March

COLUMBUS- State Rep. Jessica E. Miranda (D-Forest Park) today applauded the House’s passage of House Bill (HB) 616, which renames a portion of I-275 in Hamilton County the “Kaia L. Grant Memorial Highway.”

“I am overjoyed but also humbled to have the Kaia L. Grant Memorial Highway be the vehicle for this road naming omnibus,” said Rep. Miranda. “The unanimous support from the House is the type of acknowledgment and gratitude that is owed to the memory of Officer Grant. This portion of I-275 will serve as an enduring reminder for the ultimate sacrifice she made protecting her community.”

Springdale Officer Kaia L. Grant, age 33, was tragically killed during a police chase on March 21.

HB 616 is an omnibus package to rename multiple roads, bridges, and highways across the state. The legislation now heads to the Ohio Senate where it awaits committee assignment.
