Jena Powell News

COLUMBUS – State Rep. Jena Powell (R-Arcanum) today provided sponsor testimony on House Bill 395, which names a section of I-75 as the MCEI Kimra Skelton Memorial Highway. The bill was favorably reported out of committee following Powell’s testimony.

Kimra Skelton was a member of the Ohio State Highway Patrol where she served as a motor carrier enforcement inspector. In 2019, on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving, Kimra was on duty along I-75 in Troy when at 6:45 AM, her vehicle was struck and she was killed.

“Kimra was a 49 year old mother of two, and, like me, a resident of Arcanum, Ohio,” said Powell. “I’m thankful for Kimra’s service, and I’m proud to honor such a brave Ohioan with this bill.”

H.B. 395 was favorably reported out of the House Transportation and Public Safety Committee with a unanimous vote this morning. The bill now heads to the House floor for a vote.
