State Rep. Janine Boyd (D-Cleveland Heights) today announced her appointment to the newly formed Joint Legislative Committee on Adoption Promotion and Support.
“I'm honored to be a voice for children who dream of being adopted, and families who dream of being parents and adopt. I hope that this joint legislative committee inspires our entire body of lawmakers to do all it can for Ohio's children who, by no fault of their own, are at the mercy of our systems,” said Rep. Boyd.
Created by Senate Bill 23, the committee is tasked with reviewing and studying Ohio’s adoption process and ways to increase awareness and improve the process for Ohio families.
Boyd’s appointment comes on the heels of the passage of House Bill 14, her bipartisan bill to establish the Kinship Care Navigator Program, as well as the introduction of House Bill 206, her bipartisan bill alongside Rep. Reggie Stoltzfus (R-Minerva), to create a fully refundable tax credit for adoption.
