State Rep. Janine Boyd (D-Cleveland Heights) today announced the committees on which she will serve to help shape and refine public policy.
“I look forward to serving on these important committees,” Rep Boyd said. “In these new roles, I will strive to make a positive impact on the lives of citizens in the 9th District—and all Ohioans—when it comes to the home, the classroom and their locally-elected government.”
Rep. Boyd will serve on the following committees:
-Community & Family Advancement
The House of Representatives has 19 standing committees. House Republicans have slightly altered the committee structure for the 131st General Assembly, splitting state and local government and agriculture and natural resources into separate committees and adding the Community and Family Advancement Committee.
Committee meetings are crucial to the formation of laws; legislative proposals must be vetted through the committee process before full consideration by the House, allowing opponents and proponents to present testimony and voice opinions and creating the opportunity for alterations and improvements to legislation. Committees are open to the public and held any time before or after House floor sessions.
