The Ohio House of Representatives today passed legislation strengthening protections for elderly Ohioans from identity theft and abuse.

Under Senate Bill 158, individuals who commit offenses such as forgery, misuse of credit cards, identity fraud and selling or distributing forged identification cards against the elderly can be penalized up to $50,000.

State Representative Kyle Koehler (R-Springfield) voted in favor of the legislation during today’s House voting session and became a co-sponsor of the bill.
