COLUMBUS – State Representative Kyle Koehler (R-Springfield) today applauded Surati Sweet Mart’s (Surati) announcement of its expansion to Springfield, creating 108 new jobs and investing $3,387,030 in new payroll. The project is a collaboration with JobsOhio, the Dayton Development Coalition, the Ohio Department of Development and the Greater Springfield Partnership.
“During a time rife with uncertainty, Surati’s announcement of 108 new jobs in Springfield showcases the resiliency of Clark County’s hardworking citizens and business community,” said Koehler. “Every new job strengthens our local economy and provides the opportunities for growth we have been striving for.”
Surati is a manufacturer and distributor of over 400 Indian food products (snacks and baked goods) primarily through retail stores in the US and Canada. The Springfield location will be the first U.S. manufacturing operation for Surati.
“Thank you JobsOhio, the Dayton Development Coalition, the Greater Springfield Partnership, the Ohio Department of Development, and most of all, Surati, for your collaboration on this project and for investing in Ohio’s 79th District,” said Koehler.
Since Koehler took office in 2015, JobsOhio, the Dayton Development Coalition and local partners have successfully collaborated to secure 14 economic development projects in Clark County. In total, these commitments by companies have created 2,357 new jobs, retained 5,885 existing jobs, created nearly $164 million in new payroll and invested nearly $475 million in fixed assets.
