State Rep. Emilia Sykes (D-Akron) today received the 2018 Elected Official of the Year Award on behalf of the Ohio Association of Area Agencies on Aging (O4A). The award recognizes an elected official who demonstrates a commitment to policy that meets the needs of the elderly and people with disabilities. Sykes accepted the award during O4A’s annual conference it holds for its members and related organizations.

“I am very grateful and honored to receive this award from an organization that has a longstanding history advocating for the elderly and disabled,” said Sykes. “It is important we continue to provide services to all Ohioans no matter their age. In order to ensure a high quality of life for these citizens, we must continue to work as a legislative body and enact informed policy.”

The association is comprised of twelve Ohio Area Agencies on Aging and meets regularly to discuss policy goals and initiatives. O4A provides advocacy, training, communications and public relations services to its members.
