Sykes announces application process for Statehouse School Transportation Grants begins Sept. 5
State Rep. Emilia Sykes (D-Akron) today announced the Statehouse School Transportation Grant application process opens for submission at 9:00 a.m. on September 5, 2018. A total of 75 school transportation grants will be awarded throughout the state on a first come first served basis.
“The Statehouse is a wonderful place for students to learn about Ohio’s history, state government and how citizens can participate in the legislative process,” Sykes said. “I encourage all eligible schools to take this opportunity to cover potentially high transportation costs to visit the state capitol.”
The Statehouse Transportation grants were created by the Capitol Square Foundation in 2009. Grants will be awarded based on three mileage categories designed to for a one-way trip from the school to the Ohio Statehouse. Grants are limited to schools that receive state funding and students from 4th -12th grades. Applications should be submitted online and will be accepted until every grant is awarded.
