Rep. Sykes announces $669,232 in new Ohio Arts Council grants for Summit County

COLUMBUS – State Representative Emilia Strong Sykes (D-Akron) announced $669,232 in grants from the Ohio Arts Council (OAC) to support sustainability, arts access, statewide arts service organizations, and individual artists in Summit County.  

“Investing in the arts is crucial for building a community where people can enjoy culture and engage in creativity,” said Rep. Sykes. “By investing in the arts, we are also investing in our futures, preserving and recording history, and building spaces where the community can come together and celebrate and consider the works around us in new ways.”

With the passage of the 2022-2023 budget and the $32.9 million in funding for the OAC, Rep. Sykes helped secure state funds through agency grants to the following Summit County arts programs:

$ 12,669 for Children’s Concert Society of Akron, Ohio

$ 2,720 for Genesis Experience Theater, Inc. 
$ 60,282 for Greater Akron Musical Association, Inc.
