Leader Sykes announces $315,000 for early intervention hearing services at Children's Hospital Medical Center of Akron
House Democratic Leader Emilia Strong Sykes (D-Akron) today announced the release of $315,000 in state funds for Children's Hospital Medical Center of Akron to provide early intervention hearing services to children who are hard of hearing and being served in Ohio's early intervention program.
“I am happy to see the state invest in its most precious resource: our children,” said Leader Sykes. “These services will provide children and their families with the necessary resources to help prepare them for the future and alleviate some of the hardships that these families might face.”
This project will contract with Children's Hospital Medical Center of Akron who will be providing early intervention (EI) services of family training, counseling, and home visits.
The state funding was approved at Monday’s meeting of the state Controlling Board, a bipartisan panel tasked with oversight of state spending.
