State Rep. David Leland (D-Columbus) today sponsored a resolution with Representatives Howse (D-Cleveland) and Duffey (R-Worthington) to recognize Saturday, September 26, 2015 as Green Apple Day of Service. Green Apple Day of Service is a global volunteer movement focused on improving school environments by making them safer, more cost-efficient, and more engaging for students.
“Green Apple Day of Service demonstrates the interconnectedness of our environment, health, and education,” said Leland. “Although some environmental issues occur on a global scale, Green Apple Day sheds light on the fact that our contributions to the environmental movement can start at home and in our very own schools.”
This Saturday at 9:30 a.m. Rep. Leland will join the students, parents, and staff of Worthington Estates Elementary in their Green Apple Day event as they build a rain garden on school grounds.
