Following today’s 10th District Court of Appeals ruling that Ohio should continue paying the additional $300 weekly federal unemployment benefits, Rep. David Leland (D-Columbus) issued the following statement:
“Republicans in Ohio just gave a $1.7 billion tax handout to the wealthiest people in the state. At the same time, Gov. DeWine has blocked over 200,000 Ohioans from getting $300 a week from the federal government.
We’re talking about $300 payments for just two more weeks – money that’s coming into our state from other states, money that will boost our local economy, and money that will make a huge difference for those who need it the most. This shouldn’t be about primary politics, this should be about Gov. DeWine doing the right thing.”
