Cutrona Sworn-In to the 59th Ohio House District

January 4, 2021
Al Cutrona News

State Rep. Al Cutrona (R-Canfield) was officially sworn-in to his first term of office as the state representative for the 59th Ohio House District. The district includes most of Mahoning County. Cutrona was originally selected to fill the seat back in May 2020 following the death of the late State Rep. Don Manning. Cutrona later won the seat during the November election with over 60 percent of the vote.

“It’s exciting being a part of today’s ceremony, and I am thankful for this opportunity,” said Cutrona. “Just like last year, I am once again beholden to my constituents and am down here in Columbus to represent them – that is what I will do moving forward for the upcoming General Assembly.”

Cutrona is a Mahoning Valley native and is a proud graduate of Canfield High School. He earned his bachelor’s degree in Political Science and History from Youngstown State University (YSU), where he graduated Cum Laude. During college, he was a Representative of Student Government Association and member of the Academic Affairs Committee. He then attended law school and earned his juris doctorate from Case Western Reserve University School of Law, where he earned a Leadership Scholarship.

Currently, Cutrona is a practicing attorney and has also held several other positions at law offices throughout his professional career. Additionally, he holds a position as the Chief Operating Officer for the Northeastern Ohio Infectious Disease Association. This is the only infectious disease medical practice in the tri-county area and covers Mahoning, Trumbull, and Columbiana Counties.

Cutrona believes that his background as an attorney will help with productive policy and a Chief Operating Officer for an infectious disease medical practice has helped him in addressing concerns on COVID-19 and other healthcare infrastructure issues. These tools will aid in handling the operating budget, which is to be proposed later this year.

Within the community, Cutrona is on the Board of Trustees for Organizacion Civica y Cultrural Hispana Americana (OCCHA) and is an avid volunteer in his community.

Cutrona encourages his constituents to reach out to his office with any questions, concerns, or ideas at Rep59@ohiohouse.gov.

Today’s swearing-in ceremony of legislators marks the beginning of the 134th General Assembly.
