Rep. Bird was interviewed by Gongwer to discuss a handful of bills making their way through the House Primary and Secondary Education Committee.
As Chairman of the committee, Bird plans to continue hearings on Senate Bill 162, which would require schools to provide additional help to students identified as limited proficiency in math or reading, along with House Bill 135, requiring school districts to excuse students for 4-H and Future Farmers of America programs.
