COLUMBUS– Ohio Legislative Black Caucus’ (OLBC) President Terrence Upchurch (D-Cleveland) today stands in support of Ohio’s Somali community following recent remarks made by President Donald Trump regarding Somali immigrants. Ohio is home to the second largest Somali population in the United States, and these families are a vital part of the state’s cultural and economic landscape.

COLUMBUS — The Ohio Legislative Black Caucus (OLBC) today condemns the advancement of House Concurrent Resolution 26, a measure that seeks to summon and publicly admonish Judge Ted N. Berry, a respected Cincinnati Municipal Court judge and son of Cincinnati’s first Black mayor.

COLUMBUS – State Reps. Ismail Mohamed (D-Columbus) and Terrence Upchurch (D-Cleveland) Wednesday introduced legislation to help assist those who have defaulted on their rent payments, by requiring landlords to provide tenants with written notice of a rent default, including the amount owed, within 60 days of the default. Landlords would then be prohibited from filing for eviction until at least 90 days after providing notice and after offering the tenant an opportunity to negotiate a payment plan. If a tenant complies with the terms of an agreed-upon plan, the landlord would be barred from pursuing eviction.
