Rep. Brown Celebrates Passage of Issue 1, Says Victory Returns Fundamental Freedom to Women

COLUMBUS – State Rep. Richard Brown (D-Canal Winchester) today released the following statement regarding Issue 1’s resounding passage by Ohio’s voters:

“I am pleased to see Issue 1 pass despite the use of scare tactics and the spread of misinformation,” said Rep. Brown. “Ohioans have spoken, clearly by a significant majority, and any attempt by Republicans to change the will of Ohio voters is a blatant overstep of government, an abuse of power, and an attack on the democratic principle of majority rule.” 

Issue 1’s victory now enshrines abortion rights into Ohio’s constitution and guarantees every individual a right to make and carry out one’s own reproductive decisions, including but not limited to, decisions on contraception, fertility treatment, continuing one’s own pregnancy, and miscarriage care.
