Darnell T. Brewer News

COLUMBUS – State Rep. Darnell T. Brewer (D-Cleveland) today mourns the death of a two-year old Euclid toddler who died over the weekend due to improper gun storage in his home.

“When will enough be ENOUGH? Yet again, I am mourning the loss of another young Ohioan. On Sunday, a two-year-old fatally shot himself in the head with an unsecured firearm. I continue to ask, beg, and plead with my colleagues to address the issue of unsecured guns in Ohio,” said Rep. Brewer. “I have continuously asked for a hearing and passage of HB 175, Enact Keep Every Home Safe, and for HB 186 to be voted out of the House Ways and Means Committee. Additionally, I ask for the advancement of HB 420, which will enact the Gun Violence Task Force in Ohio.

I genuinely believe the ultimate passage of these bills and others will save lives in Ohio, especially young Ohioans. Every day, gun violence is hurting our families and communities. Ohioans should be able to live free from the fear of gun violence in their neighborhoods. This isn’t ‘gun control.’ This is about preventing gun violence and promoting responsible gun ownership.”
